چکیده

Learning the governing equations in dynamical systems from time-varying measurements is of great interest across different scientific fields. This task becomes prohibitive when such data is moreover highly corrupted, for example, due to the recording mechanism failing over unknown intervals of time. When the underlying system exhibits chaotic behavior, such as sensitivity to initial conditions, it is crucial to recover the governing equations with high precision. In this work, we consider continuous time dynamical systems ẋ = f(x) where each component of f : Rd → Rd is a multivariate polynomial of maximal degree p; we aim to identify f exactly from possibly highly corrupted measurements x(t1), x(t2), . . . , x(tm). As our main theoretical result, we show that if the system is sufficiently ergodic that this data satisfies a strong central limit theorem (as is known to hold for chaotic Lorenz systems), then the governing equations f can be exactly recovered as the solution to an `1 minimization problem – even if a large percentage of the data is corrupted by outliers. Numerically, we apply the alternating minimization method to solve the corresponding constrained optimization problem. Through several examples of 3D chaotic systems and higher dimensional hyperchaotic systems, we illustrate the power, generality, and efficiency of the algorithm for recovering governing equations from noisy and highly corrupted measurement data.

Conservative chaotic flow generated via a pseudo-linear system

Analysis of nonlinear autonomous systems has been a popular field of study in recent decades. As an interesting nonlinear behavior, chaotic dynamics has been intensively investigated since Lorenz discovered the first physical evidence of chaos in his famous equations. Although many chaotic systems have been ever reported in the literature, a systematic and qualitative approach for chaos generat...

A New Method for Encryption of Color Images based on Combination of Chaotic Systems

This paper presents a new method for encryption of color images based on a combination of chaotic systems, which makes the image encryption more efficient and robust. The proposed algorithm generated three series of data, ranged between 0 and 255, using a chaotic Chen system. Another Chen system was then started with different initial values, which were converted to three series of numbers from...

Design and Simulation of Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference Based Controller for Chaotic Lorenz System

Chaos is a nonlinear behavior that shows chaotic and irregular responses to internal and external stimuli in dynamic systems. This behavior usually appears in systems that are highly sensitive to initial condition. In these systems, stabilization is a highly considerable tool for eliminating aberrant behaviors. In this paper, the problem of stabilization and tracking the chaos are investigated....

Unscented Transformation for Estimating the Lyapunov Exponents of Chaotic Time Series Corrupted by Random Noise

Many systems in the natural world exhibit chaos or non-linear behavior, the complexity of which is so great that they appear to be random. Identification of chaos in experimental data is essential for characterizing the system and for analyzing the predictability of the data under analysis. The Lyapunov exponents provide a quantitative measure of the sensitivity to initial conditions and are th...
